The purpose of the treatment is to regulate the flow of Qi – to recreate the body’s natural energy balance and by that means promote the body’s self-healing ability

Treatments

Each patient’s individualized treatment plan may include a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, cupping, moxibustion, and other modalities as needed. The initial intake is thorough and detailed. Since Chinese Medicine is a holistic form of medicine, all aspects of your physical and emotional health, lifestyle, diet, and history are taken into account to formulate a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. In addition, during acupuncture treatments the pulses are felt on both wrists (assessing the quality of six pulse positions on each side) and I will ask to look at your tongue. For your initial intake treatment session, please allow for approximately 75 minutes. Future treatments will last between 60 to 70 minutes depending on your personal needs for that treatment.

For acute or new problems, often only one to several treatments might be needed to completely resolve the issue. For chronic problems, more treatments may be required to fully heal and balance the body systems. In general, the longer the pain or disease has been manifesting in the body, the longer it takes to reestablish a full state of health. To maintain health and wellness, and prevent disease from manifesting, one may choose to come in for maintenance or “well-being” treatments. Just as one would get massage for prevention of injury and pain. That is one of the great strengths of all forms of holistic medicine. Specifically, disease prevention and health maintenance.

In the beginning of the treatment period, sometimes after the first treatment, the symptoms may seem to worsen for a short bit of time. This is known as a “healing crisis”. It can occur from treatments of all natural therapies and is part of the body’s natural healing process. Even old symptoms may blossom up, as the body works to reverse or unravel the course of imbalance that caused the disease or pain to occur in the first place. If a healing crisis occurs, it can be viewed as a good thing as the body is working to heal itself and restore balance to the system.
